All of his FIBA games, 15 full games at Utah Prep, two years of seeing him in person at Hoop Summit, and then all of the possession clips across 40 games on Synergy. The stats are from Synergy which have all of his FIBA stuff and 40 games at Utah Prep.
The 3 point shooting percent on volume is very decent and if you’re going to say he’s a bad shooter, then Peterson who’s just 1 percentage better has to also be criticized for this. This shooting has been completely overblown given how many shots he was taking at Utah Prep. During the season they said he was only a tough shooter like Ace now he’s only a slasher lol.
I did criticize Peterson's shooting, mainly with the shot selection and the fact that he shot 25.8% off the catch from 3 on very low volume. I also never called AJ a bad shooter. I called a lot of his shot selection bad but highlighted how that doesn't really matter given his stature in high school. I highlighted my concerns with AJ's shot given the inconsistent mechanics, but called the bones of his form workable. This is also a direct quote from the piece "While the raw percentages are concerning, his volume, versatility, and level of difficulty is highly encouraging for what his jumper could look like in a few years if the mechanics get more consistent."
I won't speak for the rest of the team but yea that was my biggest concern with him coming out of college. I was encouraged though because we'd seen yearly improvement and then he obviously improved a lot at Duke too. Very similar case to both AJ and Darryn who I have concerns and nitpicks with the outside shot, but am encouraged long term given the volume, versatility, and difficulty of a lot of their attempts.
Can I ask how many games you used for this study?

Did you guys have these same shot concerns for Cooper who was a much worse shooter than both AJ and Darryn before he went to Duke?
