New Man on Campus: Drake Powell
Drake Powell has the potential to be one of the most well-rounded guards in the 2025 NBA Draft and a big reason why this North Carolina team could be incredibly fun.
The 2025 NBA Draft class is already shaping up to be a really fun one. While there are some really intriguing returning players, there is also an extraordinarily deep and talented incoming freshman class. Next season will be the ultimate determination on where these players get drafted, but going back through their high school film is extremely beneficial as it gives us additional context on how they’ve grown and potentially different roles that they’ve thrived in. Throughout this New Man on Campus series, we’re going to dive into the games of some of the incoming freshmen so we can be properly prepared once the season tips off. First up is the dynamic guard headed to North Carolina: Drake Powell.
Powell may not be as well-known of a name as some others in this class yet, but he has all the tools to be one of the best guards/wings in this class. At about 6’6” (give or take an inch depending on what site you’re looking at) and 195 pounds, Powell already has the physical and athletic baseline for an NBA guard. Being able to not worry about the physical or athletic capabilities of a player right off the bat is a blessing. Powell is an explosive athlete who also moves really well laterally.
