We analyzed nearly 1,500 rosters from the past four years to see what the data reveals about freshmen, transfers, and the “universal truths” of building a winning NCAA team.
Finally someone actually backed this up with real data. I’ve been thinking about this for a while about how teams don’t even consider freshman to even get minutes. If the freshman are quality, they will play. But the whole thing of focusing on the transfer portal and battling with NIL money being seen as better than recruiting high school players who will listen to you isn’t that much better as perceived. I think college ball should still focus on recruiting HS players too, and obviously not ignore the portal and participate in it. Just don’t completely neglect freshman.
