Scouting Notebook: Minnesota vs Ohio State

Scouting in person always hits different. You don’t have the luxury of hitting the rewind button, but you get a significantly better sense of a player’s physical profile, habits, work rate, and tendencies. Last week, I had access to the Minnesota vs Ohio State game and here were the biggest takeaways.

Scotty Middleton

Scotty Middleton hasn’t had the freshman season some of us had hoped for, but the flashes have still been encouraging. Similar to his tape, one of the first things that stood out with Middleton during warmups was how skinny he was. It’s a real issue that he’s going to have to work on over the summer. However, I came away encouraged about his frame given his broad shoulders that should be able to easily support additional muscle.
