Scouting Notebook: Xavier vs South Carolina
Scouting Collin Murray-Boyles, Dailyn Swain, and Zach Freemantle as part of the Fort Myers Tip-Off.
Xavier and South Carolina kicked off the Beach Division games of the Fort Myers Tip Off on Tuesday night. This game featured two fascinating sophomores who have vastly different games, both oozing with upside in a variety of ways. Xavier won the game 75-66, and it was a great example of how Xavier wins through veteran leadership on the court. Beyond Collin Murray-Boyles and Dailyn Swain, sixth-year senior Zach Freemantle remains an interesting big who is likely to appear in Portsmouth in the Spring as an inside out big.
Dailyn Swain (6’7”, 200 pounds)
Stat line: 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, five steals, one block, two turnovers on 5-7 shooting (0 3PA), 4-4 from FT line, 20.4 BPM
Pros
Capitalizes on opposing teams’ bad decisions as a defender. While he isn’t as active in creating chaos on defense as scouts would like, he does a great job of taking advantage of bad decisions such as lazy passes.
Finishes through contact well despite needing to get visibly stronger/add weight to his frame.
