The 2024 Nike Hoop Summit kicked off with a busy that consisted of four total practices, two a piece for the USA and World team. This event is loaded with some of the best young talent in the world who are on the verge of taking the next step in their basketball career. The competitiveness was through the roof and the all-around talent level was palpable. While there was plenty to be impressed by, here were the biggest standouts from day one.
Dylan Harper
Dylan Harper is headed to Rutgers in the fall, but he continues to dominate the high school space after a strong showing at the McDonald’s All-American game. No matter what the drill was, Harper was often leading the way. Harper showed a high IQ as he consistently made the right play. Harper simply plays at a different speed, takes what the defense gives him, and sprinkles in flair and creativity when needed.
What stood out the most, though, was Harper’s defense. Harper has good positional size and is extremely strong. His ability to combine that strength with stellar instincts, terrific footwork, and desire makes him one of the most fascinating prospects in this class.
