FIBA U18 AmeriCup - Weekend Recap
USA won its seventh straight U18 AmeriCup in Buenos Aires, but there was high-level talent in all eight teams in attendance.
After some high-intensity games on Friday, the tone shifted over the weekend; it’s generally what happens after teams are eliminated from championship/World Cup qualification. Teams choose to rest their starters and banged-up players, giving more minutes to players on their bench.
The other aspect to note is that the USA shifted into another gear for the final two games, building an insurmountable lead in the second and third quarters of their games against Canada and Argentina respectively, making the final quarters of those games really difficult to evaluate.
Here’s a team-by-team breakdown of the standouts through the final two days of competition in Buenos Aires.
