In-Person Scouting Notes: San Francisco vs. Minnesota
Tyler Metcalf made the trip to see San Francisco vs. Minnesota in Sioux Falls. He shares his takeaways on Tyrone Riley IV, Cade Tyson, and others—and what it means for the 2026 NBA Draft.
One of the most valuable pieces of scouting, for me at least, is getting to see these guys in person. You get to pick up on their practice habits, their attention to detail, their body language and interactions with teammates, and their overall work rate in a much better sense than you do just on film. On Saturday, I made the drive down to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to check out San Francisco vs. Minnesota. Before we dive in, I cannot recommend making the trip to the Sanford Pentagon enough. It’s a really cool, intimate gym with an old-school feel that gets really loud. The arena has the main court in the center of it, but there are a bunch of courts for youth games circling the main court. Apparently, this was the first time they’d done it, but there were tournaments going on those courts throughout the day, which just added to the atmosphere. It was a really cool place to watch basketball.
If you have the chance, I fully recommend making the trip. Alright, enough of that; let’s dive into my takeaways on Tyrone Riley IV, Cade Tyson, Isaac Asuma, Nehemiah Turner, Guillermo Diaz Graham, and Mookie Cook.
