Jam’s Journal will be a series that covers my thoughts from in-person scouts. I felt it was only right for the inaugural Jam’s Journal to align with the start of the high school hoops season in the DMV. Growing up here has had a profound influence on my passion for basketball and my journey in it. I type this with a tad bit of bias, BUT the DMV is home to the best high school basketball in the country.

To no surprise, Mayhem on Military is quickly becoming a must-attend for scouts, media, fans, and college coaches. Huge thanks to Marc Stern and the entire Capital Hoops staff for organizing another terrific event. In its second annual, the two-day event brings together a loaded field of talented teams and players to St. John’s College High School for a weekend of elite basketball.

Last year’s event featured names like Nate Ament (Tennessee), Eric Reibe (UConn), Acaden Lewis (Villanova), Omari Witherspoon (Pittsburgh), and Emanuel Kanga (George Mason). This year’s field was similarly highlighted by future high-level Division I players and future pros that the draft and basketball community will soon become more familiar with.
