Ouija Observations: Washington vs. UCLA
Rowan Kent took an in-town trip to watch the Washington Huskies take on the UCLA Bruins, sharing his thoughts on Hannes Steinbach, Donovan Dent, and many others for the 2026 NBA Draft and beyond!
No matter where you live, there’s good basketball to be found. Bigger cities may have more opportunities to see marquee players in multiple contexts, but any college town or high school gem can hold a hidden gem if you know how to spelunk.
As a big city slicker, it would be a disservice for me not to go and take in as much hoops as I can in the Emerald City. While I’ll likely stop in at Seattle University and some local high school basketball too, the best place to scout future NBA draft talent is at the University of Washington this season.
Danny Sprinkle’s team got a major infusion of both college and international talent with top transfers and a wrathful player I featured recently, but there are several other players that I’m eager to watch in person for my scouting. With an early Big Ten tilt against plucky UCLA on the books, I made my way down to take a look at almost a dozen different players, minus a pair of sleepers in Trent Perry and Bryson Tucker, who were out with injuries. It was a raucous game, with UW taking an early lead that they squandered to a stingy UCLA zone before almost bringing it back in the final seconds.
So what did I see and what did I think?
