Ouija Wonderings Volume 7: 11/27-2/19
It's been too long! Rowan Kent returns with a long-overdue Ouija Wonderings, which covers a wide swath of players including Ace Bailey, Jase Richardson, Will Riley, and many more!
Man, it sure has been a while for this column. I haven’t seen any of you since last year!
…
Well, that’s not true. Since my last Ouija Wonderings, I’ve written about Khaman Maluach, Igor Milicic, Max Shulga, Ian Jackson, Asa Newell, and Xaivian Lee, alongside getting the chance to pop into the Battle in Seattle. With so much of my time focused on the individual player pieces, I haven’t had the same energy to devote to a fully fleshed-out volume.
But no more! Now, as the conference section of the draft season starts to wind toward March Madness, more of my Ouija Board is coming into focus. I’ve watched more players in various contexts, run the numbers to dissect production, and do my best to put in the legwork to see as many prospects up close as possible.
Even still, I love that I’m still learning. To use a tired adage, there’s still much time left. Conference tournaments and March Madness offer a last window for college prospects to put up positive tape. The scouting combines will offer tangible measurements to help or hurt players’ cases. That, plus the madness of the portal and draft decisions, means there’s no sleepy second to spare until July.
So, what’ve I been up to since late November?
