Victor Wembanyama has been promoted as a "generational" talent ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft. But his attention to detail stands out in his pursuit to be great.
That’s going to happen with a raw player, especially with the attention that he’s been getting now on the defensive side of the ball. Victor’s a heck of a talent but no prospect is a finished product. Always easy to point to the difficult stretches when it’s a potential superstar at the next level. But all prospects have them at some point
To add another point of view I wanted to watch Victor during the playoffs when the great players tend to up their game, and especially after a year of seasoning. It’s now been 5 or 6 games since he scored even 20 points after scoring in the 20s in almost every regular season game. Plus his team got wiped out in two of them. And his 3 point shot which was initially his calling card has been around 18% over his last 57 shots. He still could be an all-time great but, to me, it’s concerning his play hasn’t elevated especially considering he has played about a half of the NBA schedule.
