One of the most valuable pieces of scouting, for me at least, is getting to see these guys in person. You get to pick up on their practice habits, their attention to detail, their body language and interactions with teammates, and their overall work rate in a much better sense than you do just on film. This week, I was at Minnesota’s massive upset win over Indiana. Not only was this Niko Medved’s first Big Ten win as the head coach for Minnesota, but it also came in an upset over the #22-ranked team in the country that was previously undefeated—not a bad way to kick off conference play for a team that most experts had at the bottom of the conference. From a scouting perspective, Tucker DeVries was the big draw for the 2026 NBA Draft, but there were also a lot of other standouts on both sides. Let’s dive into why DeVries left me incredibly underwhelmed, the growth of Isaac Asuma, and so much more.
