I had the chance to catch BYU freshman Egor Demin go through a private pre-draft workout at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles—a detail-oriented session with trainer Zach Gonzalez that focused more on craft than show.

Before a single bounce of the ball, Demin and trainer Zach Gonzalez sat down to dissect tape—Donovan Mitchell, Ja Morant, and Dejounte Murray. The theme? Drive denial and the dark arts of manipulation. Off-arm separation, subtle pickups, eyes-as-deceivers. Every clip was a clinic on controlling tempo, not just for yourself but for the poor soul trying to stay in front of you.
